Stripping linux weezy raspbian

Stripping linux weezy raspbian

I came across a post about stripping down a raspberry pi version of linux :  Stripping Linux Raspbian so I wonder how far can you go in your stripping before it breaks ? 🙂 lets find out shall we ..

Lets go to work shrinking that further and cleaning some stuff up ..

sudo apt-get remove --purge cryptsetup-bin

sudo apt-get remove --purge desktop-file-utils

sudo apt-get remove --purge dillo

sudo apt-get remove --purge gconf2 gconf2-common gnome-themes-standard

sudo apt-get remove --purge idle idle-python2.7 idle-python3.2 idle3

sudo apt-get remove --purge leafpad

sudo apt-get remove --purge dosfstools

sudo apt-get remove --purge desktop-base

sudo apt-get remove --purge gksu

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge libx11-.* lxde-.*

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge libgtk-3-0 libgtk2.0-0

sudo apt-get remove --purge midori

sudo apt-get remove --purge menu-xdg

Now you can reboot your system.

I am sure you could  go further, let me know what else you have removed.

It’s usually much better to start-small and work your way up, than to start with a full Raspbian and try stripping bits out.
